About me

Om Aim Saraswatyai Nahmah

Namaste!

I honour the place in You which the entire universe abides. I honour the place in You which is love of truth, of light and of peace. When You are in that place in You, and I am in that place in Me, WE ARE ONE!

Yoga is a place I go when I want to be closer to the truth.

My philosophy of teaching yoga

Hatha Yoga, one of the oldest and most complete forms of personal development, has helped me reach a deeper comprehension of my own nature while giving me strength, peace, more flexibilty, and better health.
I strive to be true to the ancient teachings of Hatha Yoga and practice the five principles emphasized by Swami Vishnu-Devananda:

  • Proper exercise
  • Proper breathing
  • Proper relaxation
  • Proper diet
  • Positive thinking and meditation.

I have been doing yoga for over 17 years now and perhaps it shows in my pictures here. That however does not mean that I expect my students, especially the beginners to do the same. Yoga is not a competition and the only thing that is expected of you is to give your very best.

My education

In November-December 2002 after I successfully completed an intensive Yoga Teachers Training Course at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhantwanthari Ashram in Neyyar Dam, India, I graduated with the title “Yoga Siromani” (Teacher of Yoga). Since then I have I have been teaching this ancient science to my students with sincerity and authenticity. Almost exactly five years later, I completed a second intensive month-long course called ATTC (Advanced Yoga Teacher’s Training Course) and earned the diploma of “Yogacharya” or Master of Yoga. In 2010 I did another intensive four-week yoga course in the same ashram in Neyyar Dam, Kerala, India.

My conviction

This ancient, holistic approach to our whole system of body, mind and soul gives one the needed strength and balance to survive the 21st Century with all its challenges.
